Hopefully this will give you some clarity on which route to take. BUT if you didn’t know there was a difference between a personal and business account, be sure to check out this post so you get a better understanding of why a business account is so important.
The first thing I ask my clients when I’m setting up an account for them is, “Do you still use your personal account frequently?”
If they answer yes then hands-down we need to start a new business account rather than convert. If that doesn’t give you a clear answer, then use this chart to better figure out which direction to go:
It may seem reasonable to say you should always start a brand new Pinterest account for your business. However, starting an account from scratch makes it a “baby account” and it will have to “gain Pinterest’s trust.” Where as a personal account that has been around for years might have a leg up In terms of the algorithm trusting it. You can thank all the spammers for that. Baby accounts are typically less than a year old and have to grow slowly in order to not be flagged as spam.
If you need help deciding, you can always shoot me an email. OR let me set up your account for you so there’s no guessing. You can find out more about that service here.
